Lahore Motorway opens as fog reduces

LAHORE: Blinding dense fog that descended upon the province Friday night and had forced the closure of Allama Iqbal International Airport as well as the Motorway, has now reduced, allowing the motorists to now travel through the Motrway, Geo News reported Saturday.
According to sources the operations at the Allama Iqbal International Airport also remained suspended throughout the night but reopened as the fog cleared and visibility improved.
The Motorway Police told that the highway that leads from Lahore to Shaikhupura interchange was closed as visibility level had dropped to zero.
The police urged the drivers to drive slowly and switch on fog lights. They also requested people to stay home and avoid unnecessary traveling.
Severe cold weather has been gripping parts of Punjab with dense fog and also causing problems for travelers for a week. The fog has increased due to rainfall in Lahore and adjoining cities for the past two days.
